Councils

APA's 13 councils were established by the Board of Trustees. They implement APA's objectives and report to the Joint Reference Committee. There are also eight standing committees that report directly to the Board of Trustees.

Appointments

APA's many accomplishments are made possible through the generosity of members' time, energy and expertise. One-third of the positions on all APA's councils and committees are open for appointment by the President-Elect each year. Members with expertise in the content areas of the 13 councils and their corresponding committees are strongly encouraged to submit their names or nominate a colleague to ensure the breadth of diversity within the membership is reflected. To submit a nomination, please complete the APA Component Nomination Form. All appointments will begin effective May 5, 2021.
