Feasibility and Effectiveness Feasibility and Effectiveness in Telepsychiatry Peter Yellowlees, M.D. The use of video-based telepsychiatry is increasing in response to consumer demand for convenient, inexpensive, and readily-accessible services. Technology is no longer a major barrier. Telepsychiatry has a robust evidence base and leads to high patient and provider satisfaction ratings, and outcomes equivalent to in-person care. Telepsychiatry is especially effective with respect to the treatment of PTSD, depression, and ADHD, in team based environments, and with some patient groups may be more effective than in-person care.
