APA's priorities, policies, and budgets are determined and approved by the Board of Trustees. Each year a number of positions – both national and regional – on the Board of Trustees come up for election, and nominations are due each year by September 1. The standing committees of the Board of Trustees are Bylaws, Elections, Ethics, Finance and Budget, Joint Reference, Membership, Nominating, and Tellers.
