APA Foundation

Advancing mental health, overcoming mental illness, and eliminating stigma."

The mission of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Foundation

To accomplish this mission, the APA Foundation promotes awareness of mental illnesses and the effectiveness of treatment, the importance of early intervention, access to care, and the need for high-quality services and treatment through a combination of public and professional education, research, research training, grants, and awards. The Foundation’s work reaches, among others, businesses, schools, and community organizations that are committed to educating the public about mental illnesses.

As the philanthropic and educational arm of APA, the Foundation combines the knowledge and credibility of the world's largest psychiatric organization with its patient and family-centered mission. The Foundation’s affiliation with APA gives direct access to the most authoritative and up-to-date information on mental illness.
