  • What APA is Doing For You

Every year, APA members are encouraged to help steer the future of the organization and psychiatry by casting their ballots for the APA Board of Trustees. The Board sets APA’s priorities, policies, and budgets, and this year, 15 candidates are running for national and area office. Members have until Jan. 31 to vote at psychiatry.org/election.

Because of changes to the election guidelines in effect this year that are designed to even the playing field, APA helped to produce some additional materials about the candidates.

  • The 2022 Candidates Newsletter describes the candidates’ backgrounds, platforms, and vision for the future of psychiatry, and includes their responses to key questions about their candidacy.
  • In December, APA hosted a series of four live Meet-the-Candidate Virtual Town Halls. In each of the 60- to 90-minute sessions candidates introduce themselves to APA's membership with a 5-7 presentation, followed by Q&A. The town halls were open to all APA members and moderated by the APA Elections Committee. An archive is available here.
  • A special edition of Psychiatric News covered candidate information and election details.

Results of the election will be available in mid-February.
