As state and federal governments continue to examine ways to increase access to care in the face of the COVID pandemic, APA is concerned about an increase in legislative proposals aimed at removing physician involvement in patient care which will negatively impact patient safety.

This webinar will present advocacy strategies for forming relationships with legislators in the 2021 legislative session and examine the issues and questions legislators will likely look to psychiatrists to address through these advocacy meetings. During the webinar, you will learn about APA's existing resources to combat dangerous legislation and alternative solutions that will safely increase access to care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of how to effectively talk to legislators about patient safety and offer alternatives to increasing access to care.
  • Communicate to current and new advocates about APA's existing resources supporting physician involvement in patient care, as well as resources on safely increasing access to care.
  • Breakout sessions will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions and speak with other members about these issues.
