Spanish Language Communications Committee

The Spanish Language Communications Committee supports the APA’s commitment to equity and inclusion by advancing culturally and linguistically appropriate communications for Spanish-speaking communities.

The Spanish Language Communications Committee is charged with advancing the APA’s mission to promote equitable access to mental health information and care by supporting culturally and linguistically appropriate communication for Spanish-speaking communities. Reporting to the APA Council on Communications, the committee advises on Spanish-language messaging and materials, collaborates with APA councils and components on cross-cutting initiatives, and identifies opportunities to expand engagement with Spanish-speaking psychiatrists, patients, and community partners. Through these efforts, the committee ensures that APA’s communications and outreach reflect the diversity of the populations it serves. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and dissemination of APA communications materials in Spanish, including LaSaludMental.org.
  • Advising on culturally relevant messaging for Spanish-speaking populations.
  • Collaborating with other APA councils and components on cross-cutting Spanish-language efforts.
  • Supporting Spanish language outreach via earned and social media outlets.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand engagement with Spanish-speaking psychiatrists, patients, and community partners.
