APA Council on Children, Adolescents, and Their Families Prepare for Exciting Sessions at 2023 Annual Meeting

  • April 28, 2023

The APA Council on Children, Adolescents, and Their Families (CCAF) consists of leading child and adolescent psychiatrists and trainees with diverse areas of expertise from all over the United States. The CCAF has been busy advocating, collaborating, and discussing important topics that impact mental health. Some of these topics include suicide prevention, the influence of climate change on mental health, migrant mental health and rights, asylum evaluations, school-based mental health care, behavioral and threat assessments, disparities in LGBTQ mental health, and advances in digital medicine.

Through its subcommittees, interest groups, and collaborations with other APA components, the CCAF develops position statements, action papers, policy recommendations, articles, and abstracts with the goal of advancing the mental health and well-being of all individuals, especially of children and adolescents. In addition to its work throughout the year, members of the council are facilitating sessions on a number of exciting topics at the 2023 APA Annual Meeting.

The theme of this year’s Annual Meeting is “Innovate, Collaborate, Motivate: Charting the Future of Mental Health.” The CCAF is proud of the breadth and relevance of the presentations in which its members are involved and the collaborations fostered for these sessions. Here is a list of some of the presentations that current and recent members of the CCAF are involved in:
