APA is undertaking a comprehensive process to develop a strategic plan.
This is a moment to think boldly and broadly broadly about APA’s future: about how we evolve to meet the changing needs of psychiatrists, and how we continue to advance high-quality, equitable mental health care for patients in an increasingly complex environment.
Our strategic plan will define a vision that attempts to align APA’s unique capabilities with the real-world challenges psychiatrists face and the future of practice. It’s a roadmap to help us decide where we need to go, and how to get there.
Objectives
The plan will define 4-5 top-level strategic goals that will position our organization for long-term success and increased member value by fostering clarity, consensus, and alignment on a strategy that drives:
- growth in our impact
- growth in our membership
- and growth in our ability to sustain our mission.
Timeline
Beginning with a kick-off in spring 2025 and running through the remainder of the year, APA is engaging stakeholders across all levels of the organization to capture a range of perspectives.
These inputs will be synthesized and used to shape a strategic plan that reflects the realities and priorities of psychiatry today. The plan will be finalized and approved by the Board of Trustees later this year.
