  • July 02, 2025

Washington, D.C. — The American Psychiatric Association (APA)’s journals were well-positioned in the latest edition of the Journal Citation Reports® (Clarivate Analytics © 2025), in which journals are assigned “Impact Factors.” Impact Factor is a bibliometric calculation that describes the level of influence a journal’s published output has on the scientific literature by measuring how many times the work it publishes is subsequently cited by others.

The American Journal of Psychiatry, the official journal of APA, received an Impact Factor score of 14.7. The score can be interpreted as an average, where every article that AJP published in the reporting period (2022 and 2023) was cited by almost 15 articles in 2024. AJP’s number of total citations, 37,962, places it fifth among the 288 journals in the category of psychiatry.

Psychiatric Services, published since 1950, is a monthly peer-reviewed APA journal featuring research reports on issues related to the delivery of mental health services, especially for people with serious mental illness in community-based treatment programs. Psychiatric Services received an Impact Factor of 3.2, with 12,317 total citations.

The Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences publishes works that advance the science of brain-behavior relationships, the care of persons and families affected by neurodevelopmental, acquired neurological, and neurodegenerative conditions, and education and training in behavioral neurology & neuropsychiatry.
