Committee on Lifestyle Psychiatry

The Committee on Lifestyle Psychiatry will serve to promote and advance the field of lifestyle psychiatry within the American Psychiatric Association. The Committee will focus on expanding education and scholarship by developing comprehensive curricula for psychiatrists and trainees, creating CME-accredited webinars and courses, and contributing to scholarly publications, expert consensus statements, and white papers. It will also aim to strengthen APA’s leadership and visibility in this emerging field through national and international collaborations, mentoring of early career psychiatrists and trainees, and the development of policies and tools to support clinical and academic integration of lifestyle psychiatry.

Term

Three years; volunteer leaders will be eligible for reappointment for an additional three year term at the conclusion of their first term.

Expected Time Commitment

The Committee meets virtually once a month.

Desired Expertise

Committee members should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: medical education at UME and CME, and lifestyle interventions for mental and/or physical health.

Responsibilities

  • Committee members are expected to participate in regular Committee meetings and engage in ongoing communication between meetings.
  • Committee members should be committed to an inclusive, evidence-based, and collaborative approach to the Committee’s initiatives.
