We invite you to participate in the Sixth Annual APA & APAF MOORE Equity in Mental Health 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Walk & Roll! Your participation will help bring more awareness to mental health inequities facing young people of color and honor mental health equity advocate Bebe Moore Campbell.

The Sixth Annual APA & APAF MOORE Equity in Mental Health 5k will be held virtually across the country, and in-person in Washington D.C. on Saturday, July 11, 2026. For those unable to make it in person, virtual/remote participation is encouraged by completing a walk or run in your community! Proceeds from the 5K benefit the event and APA & APAF’s MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program. Last year participants raised over $76,000 which has supported awards to non-profits around the U.S. that have undertaken innovative programs and services to improve the mental health of young people of color.

Bebe Moore Campbell & APA Moore Equity in Mental Health Initiative

Bebe Moore Campbell was a mental health equity champion and a New York Times bestselling author who tirelessly worked to bring public awareness to minority mental health. Her work was inspired from her personal experiences with a family member. APA strives to continue her visionary work through this annual event to benefit a newly established award, named after Campbell.

The Moore Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program was established in 2021 by APA's Division of Diversity and Health Equity in partnership with the APA Foundation. The initiative supports individuals and community organizations that have undertaken innovative awareness programs and/or have provided services to improve the mental health of young people of color.
