The Indigenous Peoples in Psychiatry Early Pipeline Program aims to expose American Indian/Alaskan Native/Native Hawaiian undergraduate and high school students to the field of psychiatry while offering mentorship from some of the world’s leading psychiatrists.
The number of American Indian/Alaska Native medical school applicants decreased from 0.38% to 0.19% between 2006 and 2017. To address this challenge, APA has created an early pipeline program aimed to increase the number of Indigenous peoples that are medical school applicants interested in psychiatry.
