Mental Health Performance Measures

Download the All Measures Spreadsheet (4.1 MB)

Compiled by APA staff, the All Measures Spreadsheet is a comprehensive collection of performance measures that pertain to mental health. It is possible that other measures related to behavioral health care exist outside of this spreadsheet, and were not excluded for any reason other than sheer oversight. The measures included in this spreadsheet were collected from several measure databases including the National Quality Measures Clearing House (NQMC), the Center for Quality Assessment & Improvement in Mental Health (CQAIMH), the National Quality Forum (NQF), and the Physicians Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI). Each measure has been categorized by Diagnostic Domain (diagnostic category); Level of Analysis (measurement setting); Mental Health Measure Non-Psychiatrist Focus (behavioral health measure appropriate for use by care providers within other medical specialties); General Healthcare Measure (non-condition specific measures deemed appropriate for behavioral health); and if the measure’s specifications dictated, Time Frame on Care Continuum (measure based on longitudinal care of patient).

Using the Spreadsheet

This master spreadsheet maybe filtered by category by clicking on the drop-down box in each column’s title box and checking the sub-category you would like to view. Other pages on this site display measures grouped by common features (e.g. NQF measures or specific diagnosis).

Identified Gap Areas

Gap areas are found when a subject area has demonstrated that an opportunity for improvement is present, yet few or no measures exist. During the creation of this spreadsheet and its related pages, gaps in measure topics were identified. Gap areas include schizophrenia and psychosis measures and measures for persons with mental health commonly treated in primary care (e.g. ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety Disorder).
