The nuts and bolts of successfully prescribing clozapine

Prescribing Clozapine: The Nuts and Bolts of Successfully Using an Underutilized Medication
  • Sunday, October 22, 2017
  • 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Interested in learning more about how to use clozapine? Do you want to take your knowledge about clozapine to the next level? Do you run a clozapine clinic? Are you interested in starting one? If you answered YES to any of these questions, think about checking out our workshop!

In our workshop, Tony (Anthony Battista, M.D., M.P.H.) and I will discuss some of the basics of prescribing clozapine, and will also talk about some of the challenges. And REMS? Check. We'll go through that, also! Unfortunately, not enough people with schizophrenia are given an opportunity to try this valuable medication...Together, by identifying the right people who may benefit from a trial of clozapine, we can be part of the solution!

We really want to learn from you, too. We're planning to have an audience response system so you can share with us your best treatment strategies for clozapine-induced sialorrhea, clozapine-induced enuresis, and other clozapine-related clinical quandaries.

This workshop will be fun for the clozapine novice to the clozapine guru, and all those in between. If you're new to clozapine, we hope you leave our workshop feeling more confident using it. If you're a clozapine expert, we hope you walk away with a new tidbit (or share your secrets with us)! We plan to have plenty of time for your thoughts and questions. So, grab a beignet and coffee before you come and join us on Sunday morning in New Orleans!

Hope to see you there!"
