Medicaid Advisory Group (MAG)
The Medicaid Advisory Group (MAG) facilitates two-way collection of data, dissemination of information, and development of strategies to address Medicaid issues that have an impact on the practice of psychiatry. Among issues examined are state implementation of the Deficit Reduction Act, Medicaid PDLs, the rehabilitation benefit, cash and counseling.
The MAG is comprised of psychiatrists from states with interest and expertise in treating patients funded through state Medicaid resources. Activities include
- a forum for information exchange between psychiatrists in different states who serve the Medicaid community;
- access and information exchange concerning other organizations such as NASMHPD, AACP, among others;
- identification of patterns to assist APA in responding to issues of access, services, coverage, treatment, reimbursement, among others.
The activities of the MAG are coordinated through the Office of Healthcare Systems & Financing and information exchange is through an APA sponsored list serve.
